Amazon released Kindle, a revolutionary electronic-paper display which provides a sharp, high-resolution screen that looks and reads like real paper, on 19th November.
With this Amzon.com brings forward a new concept to replace 'papaer-based' reading. Amazon.com also provides a Kindle version of many popular books at a discounted price.
Also - it states 'free wireless delivery' :) - so you can buy these books and download those directly to your Kindle. Also many newpapers and magazines offer special subscription services to Kindle - which too can be subscribed through Amazon.
Kindle uses Whispernet for wireless access, which utilizes Amazon's optimized technology plus Sprint's national high-speed (EVDO) data network.
As per Amazon.com, "Unlike WiFi, you don't have to find a hotspot. Amazon pays for Kindle's wireless connectivity so you will never see a monthly wireless bill for shopping the Kindle Store. There is no wireless setup—you are ready to shop, purchase and read right out of the box."
BTW - if it does not have the wireless setup option to connect to any WiFi hotspot, I wonder how this is going to be useful out side US - definitely not in Sri Lanka.
